Why We Built This Site
North Carolina makes many court records available to the public, but the right access route depends on the case and the question. In Orange County, the Clerk of Superior Court maintains the county’s records for both Superior and District Court. The statewide eCourts Portal is a public search layer, local calendars are a second way to check current settings, and the clerk remains the place for a physical file, certified copy, or access question.
Orange County has two trial divisions, clerk-administered estates and special proceedings, and court facilities in Hillsborough and Chapel Hill. City citations do not go to separate municipal court databases. The material here is organized to help distinguish those channels and direct a reader to the official source that holds the needed record.
What You Will Find Here
The site’s record pages describe the researched Orange County routes rather than reproduce court data.
- Docket guides: public routes for criminal dockets and civil dockets.
- Court dates and settings: the published court calendar, Search Hearings, and local calendar-call process.
- Case lookups: the official statewide path for a case search by party, citation, or record number.
- Record requests: how court records, files, and certified copies are reached through the Orange Clerk.
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference resource with no connection to a North Carolina court, clerk, or government agency. It cannot access the official case-management system, change a setting, issue a certified copy, alter a record, or offer legal advice.
- It cannot retrieve an official docket or file for a reader.
- It cannot schedule, change, or confirm a hearing.
- It cannot seal, amend, or remove a court record.
- It cannot issue a certified order, judgment, or docket copy.
- It cannot interpret how a law or case applies to an individual situation.
- It cannot promise that a court’s current hours, fees, or procedures have not changed.
The Orange Clerk of Superior Court or the court that keeps the case is the source for an official or certified record. A Portal result is not the official record.
Search Partners
Some content pages contain a third-party search widget. Its provider controls its product, prices, terms, and results. Any referral relationship helps support the resource, but it does not make the provider a court source. Official Orange County case information should always be confirmed through the court, clerk, or Judicial Branch service that maintains it.
